New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal speaks to NDTV at an event organised by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
Here are the highlights:
- 65000 crores collected as tax from Delhi and the state only gets 325 crores.
- Delhi is not getting a share in taxes because it hasn't been put in the terms of reference of the Finance Commission.
- There are constraints in every government. We will overcome them together.
- Don't want to comment on what is happening in party, let's focus on governance today.
- Not running away from a question, people of Delhi are looking for governance, they are not affected by who says what.
- If people want publicity, they write a blog against Kejriwal.
- We are writing to the police chief on Delhi's traffic issues. They must have thought of some solutions so we'll see what we can work out.
- Before construction of any road, our PWD Minister Satyendar Jain is formulating a policy, where we will ask all agencies if they want to do anything - after that we will not allow that road to be dug for a certain number of years.
- Tobacco ban will help in the long run.
- Those defending tobacco linked to lobbies.
- Doing sting is ethical, but not taking bribes.
- We had started from an atmosphere where no work was done in the government without taking a bribe.
- Nothing can happen in 1 day. In 2-3 years people will get used to working honestly - things will change.
- We will encourage those who are honest and punish the corrupt and you'll see the impact.
- India's future depends on education. I am a great believer in human resources.
- Education and health are the two things that we want to concentrate on, apart from corruption.
