Arvind Kejriwal To Release AAP's Farmers' Manifesto On September 11

Arvind Kejriwal To Release AAP's Farmers' Manifesto On September 11

Earlier on July 3, Arvind Kejriwal had released a 51-Point Youth Manifesto in Amritsar.

Chandigarh: After releasing its youth manifesto, the Aam Aadmi Party will come up with a special manifesto for farmers in Punjab. Announcing this, head of AAP's manifesto committee Kanwar Sandhu told media persons on Wednesday that Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal will release the farmers' manifesto on September 11 at Moga.

Mr Sandhu said that the farmers' manifesto was prepared after a series of dialogue with stakeholders in different districts, where farmers spoke of their woes and grievances and gave suggestions for their betterment.

Separate manifestos for various sections are devised to spell out the agenda of AAP for Punjab for the next five years, Mr Sandhu said, adding that farmers' manifesto will be followed by a separate manifesto for SC/STs, besides Industry and Trade. In July, Mr Kejriwal had released the 51-point youth manifesto in Amritsar.

Mr Sandhu said that there will be a comprehensive 'AAP Manifesto - Mission 2017' - giving out the Vision of the AAP for Punjab for 2017 and beyond.

Mr Sandhu revealed the farmers' manifesto will roll out an 'action plan' to prevent suicides by farmers and farm labourers. A major debt relief package is on the cards as AAP is committed to zero-farmer suicide within one year of the formation of government, he added.

He said that farmers manifesto has been prepared by the 'Bolda Punjab' team after holding eight dialogues with farmers in different regions of Punjab - Moga, Talwandi Bhai, Bathinda, Mansa, Nadala, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran and Ludhiana (Dairy Farmers). The team considered nearly 2400 suggestions received in writing, 5,000 emails, SMSes and WhatsApp messages. More than 200 suggestions had come in as emails from Punjabis settled abroad, who related their farming experiences abroad with practices back home.
