New Delhi: The BJP has slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks against Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, alleging that the language used by the AAP chief was that of "C-grade Bollywood characters".
Amid a bitter confrontation with Mr Jung over the authority to run the city administration, Mr Kejriwal had called him a "polling agent of BJP".
"Arvind Kejriwal seems to be under influence of the language used by C-grade Bollywood characters," Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay alleged on Saturday.
"Delhi people have voted for us and the rest of the country supported Modi. So please let us run Delhi and you (Modi) run the country. Don't create trouble for us every day through the L-G. This is not being a good Prime Minister. Taking revenge for losing Delhi from people and AAP is not right," Mr Kejriwal said, sending out a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Slamming the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Kejriwal had, in an interview to NDTV, said that he does not give time even to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia or other Delhi ministers for a meeting or take his calls.
"But if the 'chowkidar' (watchman) of (BJP President) Amit Shah calls him (L-G), he will go crawling," he had said.
Mr Kejriwal's comments on Mr Jung were also criticised by former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, who took to Twitter to hit out at the chief minister.
"Words used in d interview by CM Delhi against d LG is defamatory. I believe it ought to be questioned in the Court. Or else a bad precedent!(sic)," Ms Bedi, who was the BJP's chief ministerial candidate, tweeted on Saturday.
In a series of tweets, she also wrote, "Why is CM Delhi day after day continuing to burn bridges rather than build bridges? Governance needs collaboration not confrontation."
