New Delhi: The Congress was trolled by Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today moments after it took a swipe at the BJP over its website, which has been down since yesterday.
"We'll be back soon," said a message on the site www.bjp.org this morning, citing maintenance.
The Congress couldn't resist a dig at the expense of the BJP, arguably the country's most tech-savvy political party. But then, the opposition party was instantly thwacked by Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which seized the chance to imply a secret nexus between the rivals for the national election.
"We realise you've been down for a long time now. If you need help getting back up, we're happy to help," tweeted the Congress from its official account, with a "hug" emoticon.
AAP shot off this response: "Just like what you did in Delhi! This election wherever BJP is down, Congress will help it to get back up. As we said #CongressHelpingBJP." Arvind Kejriwal's party accuses the Congress of rejecting an alliance in Delhi because of an understanding with the BJP to gang up against AAP.
On Tuesday, the Congress formally decided not to tie-up with AAP in Delhi, after which Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "At a time when the whole country wants to defeat Modi- Shah (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah) duo, Congress is helping BJP by splitting anti-BJP vote. Rumours are that Cong has some secret understanding with BJP. Delhi is ready to fight against Cong-BJP alliance. People will defeat this unholy alliance."
As the BJP website crashed yesterday, Congress social media in-charge Divya Spandana was among the first to tweet about it. She retweeted a post that shared a screenshot of a meme featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In the video, Chancellor Merkel is seen walking past the Prime Minister as he tried to shake hands with her.
"Bhaiya aur bhehno if you're not looking at the BJP website right now -- you're missing out," tweeted Divya Spandana.
After that, many parties trolled the BJP. "The IT experts who claim EVMs can't be hacked saw their party's website hacked. But don't ask for proof," tweeted AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj.
The BJP has not commented on its website problem but party sources said, "we'll be back soon. Be patient."
