Aspirant for PM should be patient, Nitish Kumar's takes a dig at Narendra Modi: highlights

Rajgir, Bihar: Nitish Kumar addresses JD(U) meet in Bihar. He addressed a strategy meeting for the national election due by May. Mr Kumar hit out at Narendra Modi also.

The JD(U) and Mr Modi's BJP were partners in the Bihar government till June this year when the former broke the 17-year alliance over the BJP's decision to give the Gujarat minister a starring role in the party's election campaign. Three months later, he was chosen as the BJP's PM candidate.

Here are the highlights:

• This is a land rich in history. Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak: many other religious leaders have come here.
• This has been a place which has spawned many religions. This is a land of gyan, saadhna, taqt.
• I am happy that this congregation has been a huge success.
• Our coalition with BJP broke after many years but it was not our fault. BJP is responsible for it.
• So many things have been said about the split. Even I want to say many things.
• By May, next year there will be a new government.12 rallies; Sankalp rallies will be held.
• Regarding the special status, whoever wants to see can go and see and whoever wants to go and count may please do so.
• We were not satisfied with it, government said that Bihar needs to get special status but failed to do so.
• Bihar demanded Rs 20,000 crore from centre and got Rs 12,000 crore. Our fight goes on.
• JDU's signature campaign forced Centre to set up panel to consider special status for Bihar.
• JDU will connect with voters, demand the legitimate rights of Bihar. We had to face many hardships for this but it's not a fight for one person but the entire state of Bihar.
• Our Novemebr 4 rally last year was the biggest ever seen in Patna. People showed up in huge numbers when we held a rally in Delhi.
• We are demanding special status, it is our right not charity. We are made of determination, We will get Bihar its rights. And we will get what is our due.
  
• Two-three days back there was a rally in Patna, I condemn the blasts. One person was caught by the Bihar police. NIA team has arrived.
• Bodh Gaya blast probe was also handed over to them. I am saddened by the incident.
• I had told all police authorities to ensure that the Gandhi Maidan should be sanitized. I had told the Home Secy that all security arrangements should be made for such a big rally.
• My ex-friends accuse me of failing in providing security for BJP Patna rally but all security arrangements were made. They once praised me and now they are finding faults with me.
• What excitement did Mr Modi have? Why are you sweating so much? People sitting on top of the country need to be brave.
• I heard that people of Gujarat love ice-cream, but why doesn't that sweetness reflect in your words.
• A man who aspires to attain India's highest post should be patient. He should learn to be brave as it's the most respectful position in our nation.
• Despite the ice cream consumption, there is no sweetness in his speech.
• 'JP ko chhod diya toh BJP ko chhod diya' par kab chhod diya yeh main janna chahta hun, tukbandi ke liye kuch bhi keh diya.
• You can either see the dream of eliminating Congress or sitting at the top position, both together will not be possible.
• What's the meaning of Hunkar? 'Ghamand, ahankaar. Hunkaar say ahankaar tapakta hai. Inka bhed khul gaya, Vishwas ghaat kia aapney.' When we were together that is when you started 'hunkar'.
• You all have betrayed us. That phase of BJP is not there anymore. I told Advani ji that now no one will listen to you.
• I was ready to resign, I informed Sushil Modi. Why did we fight the 2010 election together because they knew without me they cannot win.
• The dream of the Red Fort will remain a dream.
• 'Chun chun kar saath karo': What kind of language is that? They think by speaking a thousand lies it will become the truth.
• BJP fought the 2010 elections with me because they needed me. They then dumped me, So who is the traitor.
• How many times can you keep shouting at the crowd during a rally?
• Gujarat sent Rs 5 crore during the 2010 floods and publicised it. Indian culture says when you give charity, you should not publicise it.
• When damage is of hundreds of crores what good is Rs five crore, that too with such publicity? That is why we gave it back.
• It's good to dream about being a PM. I have no experience of selling tea, but I too come from a modest background. Our background is also not very high.
• Efforts are being made to spoil the peace in Bihar. I urge for calm and communal harmony. There is threat of communal disharmony and fascism in our state.
• Until we educate people and give them food there will be no progress. What's their thought for the millions who live below the poverty line? I have a vision and I am working for it.
• First they include Lord Rama in their party. Then they engulf Lord Krishna in caste politics. He comes to Bihar to talk casteism. 
• Bhagwan Krishna went from Dwarka to Mathura and Dwarka was a port city. When you talk Lohiya make an effort to read what he has written. As per their own whims and fancies they take Ram's name and now Lord Krishna's name.
• They talk about Lord Ram, Krishna, BJP should remember Ram, Krishna united country and didn't belong to any caste or party.
• What kind of environment is BJP trying to create in the country?
• You should stay united, We shouldn't be influenced by what they say. Bihari's don't beg they earn their living. Go to any corner of the country you will find Bihari's.
• Be strong. I will not be cowed down. I will fight for my principles, even if it kills me. I have faith in you.
• We will fight for Bihar till our last breath.
• Poll surveys are only PR exercise. I read it like an entertainment piece.
• Poll surveys are meant to confuse you. We will bring back the golden era of the state and take India ahead.
