Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today ordered an inquiry by the Chief Secretary into the incident of a farmer suicide in the first week of September in Nalbari district.
According to an official release, Mr Gogoi asked Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia to find out the reasons behind the suicide of Dibakar Kalita of Tihu area. Mr Gogoi also said the farmers can directly contact the Deputy Commissioners if they face any problem.
The Chief Minister further directed all the DCs to resolve farmers' issues immediately.
Meanwhile in a function to launch a scheme during the day, Mr Gogoi said the state government is giving top priority in development of the villages.
If the productivity of the farmers does not increase, the economy of the state will not grow, he added.
