Assam Governor Invites BJP-Led Alliance To Form Next Government

Guwahati: Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya today invited BJP, AGP and BPF to form the next government in Assam after the three partners staked their claim.

BJP legislature party leader Sarbananda Sonowal, AGP president Atul Bora, and BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary led a delegation of legislators to meet Mr Acharya to stake their claim to form the next government in the state, a Raj Bhawan spokesperson told news agency PTI.

The Governor afterwards invited the BJP-led alliance to form the next government in the state.

The oath taking ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 24 and a host of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is slated to be in attendance.

It will be the first ever BJP-led government in Assam.

Earlier during the day, Mr Sonowal was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party.
