Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena Defeats Uddhav Thackeray's Faction In 36 Seats

The Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde knocked out rival Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) of Uddhav Thackeray in 36 constituencies in Maharashtra polls, putting to rest the debate over which is the real party founded by the late Bal Thackeray. Shinde's Sena, a constituent of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, won 57 of the 81 seats it contested. Sena (UBT), a partner in the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, managed to bag only 20 despite fielding 95 candidates. In 14 seats, it defeated Shiv Sena candidates.

Bypoll Result Live: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra leads by over one lakh votes in Wayanad

Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra extended her lead by over one lakh votes after two hours of counting of the ballots in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala, according to the Election Commission.

According to EC figures at around 10.20 am, Priyanka received 1,65,487 votes with LDF's Sathyan Mokeri at second with 56,929 and BJP's Navya Haridas third with 31,018 votes.

The bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was held on November 13.

Of the 16 candidates who contested, the main contenders are Priyanka, who is making her electoral debut, CPI(M)-led LDF's Sathyan Mokeri, a political veteran, and BJP-headed NDA's Navya Haridas.
