Assembly Elections 2017: Keshav Prasad Maurya is confident of BJP's win in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Lucknow:

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya is confident of BJP's victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

In an interview with news agency PTI, he said, "The results of the Gujarat Assembly elections will prove that who is a "jabardast" (superb) neta, and who is a "jabardasti ka" (forced upon) neta."

"In Gujarat Assembly elections, the BJP is going to register a comprehensive win. There is only one neta (leader) in Gujarat. He is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

"The party will also win a comfortable majority in Himachal Pradesh," Mr Maurya added.

Talking about the upcoming urban body elections in Uttar Pradesh, the deputy chief minister said that like 2014 Lok Sabha elections and 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, the lotus will prominently bloom across the state in this election too.

"The people of the state very well know that when there is a BJP government at the Centre, the state and in urban local bodies, there will be no roadblock to development," he said.

Ruling out fears about BJP's strained relationship with election allies Apna Dal ( Sonelal) and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), he said, "There is no strain in our relationship with election partners, nor we will allow it to happen."

Recently, SBSP decided to fight the polls alone after the Apna Dal(S) backed out from urban local body polls.

The urban local body polls in Uttar Pradesh will take place in three phases beginning from November 22 and the results will be announced on December 1.
