West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was released from hospital on Friday, with doctors saying she has responded well to treatment, two days after the Trinamool Congress leader was injured in the state's Nandigram.
"Medical board felt she should be in hospital for 48 hours more for observation. She requested that she should be discharged. Heeding to her request she is being discharged with medical advice," the doctors said in a statement.
Earlier, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari filed his nomination for contesting West Bengal Assembly elections from Nandigram constituency.

The list includes names Congress interim Chief Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Salman Khurshid, and Sushmita Dev.
A total of 30-star campaigners list has been submitted to the Election Commission of India, party chief ministers Ashok Gehlot, Capt Amarinder Singh and Bhupesh Baghel are also on the list.
Kerala PCC president Mullappally Ramachandran, leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Ramesh Chennithala and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters in Delhi that the party will be putting up candidates in 91 seats and candidates have been unanimously finalised in 81 segments.
Discussions are on to finalise candidates for remaining 10 seats. The central election committee of the Congress party, chaired by party president Sonia Gandhi, has decided to field 91 congress candidates in Kerala, Mr Ramachandran said.
BJP leader Bhupender Yadav, said, "Today, BJP delegation led by Union Minister Piyush Goyal met the Election Commission. We demanded an impartial probe into the March 10 incident. Whenever any candidate goes to file a form (nomination), after that if that candidate participates in any rally, then it is video-graphed by the Election Commission. We have demanded that that first video of the matter should be made public."
The BJP leader also demanded the Election Commission to take action against the undue influence allegedly by the TMC party people.
Asserting that the BJP has demanded a full-fledged inquiry into the incident and wished a speedy recovery of Ms Banerjee so that she can participate in her electoral campaigning, party spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said even senior TMC leaders are "distorting the state administration's version" of the incident to give credence to the conspiracy angle for political gains.
The Centre's decision to provide the security cover to Mr Chakraborty comes a day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that she was allegedly pushed by a few people during her poll campaign in Nandigram. Ms Banerjee is now admitted to the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata with an injury in her foot.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari on Friday filed his nomination from the Nandigram seat for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
On March 6, the BJP fielded former TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, setting the stage for a high-profile contest from the seat in the state Assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will be holding a massive election campaign in the poll-bound states of West Bengal, Assam and Kerala starting next week till the end of the month.
According to sources, the Prime Minister will hold election rallies in West Bengal's Purulia on March 18, Contai on March 20, and Bakura on March 21.
Mr Shah, on the other hand, will visit Bengal and Assam on March 14 and 15. After that, he will hold election rallies on March 17, 21 and 23 in Assam while in West Bengal, he will hold election rallies on March 19, 26 and 27. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari on Friday offered prayers at a temple in Nandigram before filing his nomination for the Assembly election in West Bengal.
The BJP leader who was earlier a close aid of Trinamool Congress (TMC) will file his nomination today from the Nandigram constituency.
He also interacted with the locals before going to file the nomination paper.
"The TMC election committee strongly condemns the attack on Mamata Banerjee, and since elections are taking place under the Election Commission, it is their duty to prevent such incident. Whoever injured Mamata should be located and tried with proper investigation," said Mr Chatterjee.
The deal was signed by DMK president MK Stalin and CPI(M) state secretary K Balakrishnan in Chennai, ANI reported.
