Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann will take the oath as the next chief minister of Punjab on March 16. He has invited Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal for the oath-taking ceremony.

Mr Mann had earlier said that the oath-taking ceremony will not be held at Raj Bhawan but at Khatkarkalan in Nawanshahr district, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

The Aam Aadmi Party registered a landslide victory in the Punjab polls with 92 seats pushing most of its rivals to the margins. Congress won 18 seats in the 117-member assembly.

Arvind Kejriwal meets newly-elected AAP MLAs from Goa,
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday met the newly-elected AAP MLAs from Goa and exuded his confidence in them saying "they will fulfil all the expectations" of the state's people.

Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister said, "Met with the newly-elected AAP MLAs from Goa. Congratulated them on the win. I wish them all the best and I am sure that they will work hard to fulfil all expectations of the people of Goa."

Independent winner extends support to BJP in Manipur
A day after the BJP swept the assembly polls in Manipur, Nishikant Singh Sapam, an Independent candidate who won the elections from Keishamthong assembly constituency, extended his support to the saffron party on Friday.

According to Chidananda, the state vice president of the BJP, Sapam submitted his official letter, pledging support to the saffron camp, to A Sarda Devi, the party's Manipur chief.

BJP to decide next Goa Chief Minister after meeting of party leaders
As the Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) is set to form the government in Goa with the help of Independents and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Friday said the party will decide next chief minister after meeting of its leaders.

"There is no confirmation yet, I have not received any call from the Centre, it will be decided after a meeting with the party national leaders in Goa," Mr Sadanand said when asked about the announcement of the chief minister in Goa.

Day after election results, Goa Cabinet Chief Minister holds meet to dissolve Assembly
A day after the BJP retained power in Goa, state Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday held a meeting of his cabinet to dissolve the state Assembly on Monday.

Speaking to ANI, Mr Sawant said, "Today was the last cabinet meeting of the tenure. We thanked everyone. We also took a resolution to dissolve the assembly from March 14 as tenure is ending."

Bhagwant Mann meets Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi

Punjab Chief Minister-elect Bhagwant Mann on Friday reached New Delhi and met Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

Bhagwant Mann met the Delhi CM at his residence in presence of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. He touched Kejriwal's feet and sought his blessings.

The AAP had a landslide win in the Punjab Assembly polls by winning 92 seats to form its government in the state with a three-fourth majority in the 117-member legislative assembly.

Why are municipal corporation elections in Delhi deferred in Delhi?

It is said that all 3 municipal corporations in Delhi are being clubbed as one to make it 1 unified municipal corporation, hence elections for these have been deferred. But what has this got to do with elections?

If tomorrow 3 municipal corporations are clubbed, they will sit out of one office. The employees will do as needed, but why defer elections for this? Tomorrow if India is to go from a Parliamentary system to a Presidential system of governance, then will elections be deferred for it? If two states have to be joined as one, will elections be deferred? These are unrelated incidents.

Akhilesh Yadav Says "We Showed That BJP's Seat Count Can Be Decreased"

A day after the BJP's record victory in Uttar Pradesh, prime challenger Samajwadi Party's chief Akhilesh Yadav thanked voters for their support and said they had shown that the BJP's seat count can be decreased.

Taking to Twitter this morning, Mr Yadav said he was grateful to the voters of the state for a two-and-a-half fold increase in their seat tally and a one-and-a-half fold surge in their vote share.

"We have shown that the BJP's seat count can be decreased. This decline would continue. More than half of falsehoods have been wiped out, the rest will follow. Election Results: At 92 Seats, AAP's Punjab Sweep Matches 60-Year Record

The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday swept Punjab, winning 92 of the 117 Assembly seats, in a record second to only that of an Akali Dal-BJP joint tally in 1997. The AAP's score matched the Akali Dal's figure of 92 from that election.

This time, the AAP decimated the Congress and the Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party combine, sending leaders like Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder Singh home with pink slips. (Read full story here)
