The Congress is expected to declare its chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab assembly polls on Sunday with all eyes on party leader Rahul Gandhi who is likely to announce the name.
Rahul Gandhi will declare the name during his visit to Ludhiana on Sunday during a virtual rally, said a party leader, who did not want to be named, on Saturday.
Fighting the 2022 UP assembly as a joint candidate of his party along with Samajwadi Party from his family bastion Jaswantnagar here in the district, PSP chief Shivpal Yadav on Saturday pleaded with people to reelect him with a record margin.
Jaswantnagar in Etawah district goes to poll on February 20 during the third phase of the seven-phase UP assembly elections.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday aggressively campaigned in Aligarh for the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, appealing to people to vote for the party's candidates.
Earlier in the day, Ms Priyanka conducted a door-to-door campaign in the Khair Assembly constituency of Aligarh.

The Delhi government on Saturday announced that polling days in Uttar Pradesh would be paid holidays for the people from that state employed in the national capital so that they can exercise their franchise.
Counting of votes will be held on March 10.
According to a notice by the General Administrative Department of the Delhi government, the waiver applies to every person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and entitled to vote in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
