New Delhi:
Shah Rukh Khan was at Delhi University today when a small group of students, allegedly from the ABVP (BJP's student wing), began protesting against the actor.
Five students at Hansraj College have been detained, said Delhi Police sources, claiming that the protestors are either members or supporters of the ABVP.
Mr Khan, 50, graduated from Hansraj College nearly 30 years ago. It was only today, however, that he collected his degree in Economics.
"This is a very special moment for me. I am back in my college, which I left in 1988. I am missing only one thing - my children are not with me today, as I wanted to show them every corner of my college," the superstar said.
The venue was packed with students waiting to see him. The actor also launched the title track of his new film, "Fan", at the college.
Late last year, Mr Khan confronted a huge backlash on social media after he expressed his concerns about religious tolerance in India, days after a man in Uttar Pradesh was lynched to death after wrongly being accused of keeping beef in his house.
The invective on Twitter against Mr Khan dubbed him a traitor and "anti-national".
