Maruti on Ertiga launch


C V Raman, general manager at Maruti Suzuki said there is requirement of compact MPV in India and the company is trying to create a new segment with Ertiga launch.

It is a sporty design yet passenger like and moves away from commercial image. Ertiga is derived from the Swift platform. Ertiga will be manufactured at Maruti's Gurgaon plant.

Hero MotoCorp unveils its first hybrid scooter


Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp unveiled its first hybrid scooter Leap at Auto Expo 2012.

Pawan Munjal , CEO and MD of the company said Hero Leap has been developed with technological support from an international consultant. The scooter will run on battery as well as petrol.

General Motors (GM) has unveiled its 
hatchback Sail at the Auto Expo 2012 . The car will  be launched in India later this year. This is the latest offering from the GM -SAIC  Corp joint venture.  SAIC  Corp is China's biggest automaker by revenue.

The new Safari Storm sports a 2.2-litre 16-valve common rail (DiCOR) engine that produces 140PS of power and 320Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) enables shifting from 2WD to 4WD.

General Motors in Auto Expo
Auto maker General Motors (GM) India said on Thursday that it has bought components worth $500 million and will source $1billion in next two years from India for overseas operations.

The company has already invested about more than Rs 5,000 crore in India.

The company said it will look at double growth in comparison to the industry growth. It has already planned for two unveilings in 2012.

The bike has been named Dream Yuga, and it will be commercially available by May 2012.

Mini Global:

Yamaha:

Yamaha launches scooter for girls 'Yamaha Grey'. It will be available commercially from the second half of 2012

India Yamaha Motor head, Hiroyuki Suzuki said, "Price will be disclosed at the time of the commercial launch."

He also spoke about the company's sales

"Have seen domestic sales of 3.3 lakh motorcycle units," Hiroyuki Suzuki said.

Auto Expo update

Ratan Tata will be speaking at Auto Expo at 2:30 pm, possibly on Tata Safari and Tata Nano.

Peugeot Auto Expo update

"PSA Peugeot Citroen to launch its first product on a CBU model by end of 2013. We will have a top down approach to the Indian market," Frederic Sabre, MD, PSA Peugeot Citroen said.

He also announced that it will first launch an 'ultra-luxury' model in the B+ segment. It is not planning to foray into the small car segment in India yet.

Besides launching two wheeler products at the Auto Expo 2012, Suzuki has announced a new compact SUV in the four-wheeler segment - XA Alpha.










"They are zero emission electric cars," the company announced. This is in accordance with the theme of the Expo this year - 'New Technology- Green Technology'.
 
Nissan also unveiled its new Nissan Evalia. It is a 7 seater family car that will be produced in the second half of this year.

The latest edition of Auto Expo will witness as many as 50 global brands showcasing their products. The event will witness the unveiling of 24 cars by domestic companies and eight by global players, besides eight two-wheelers by home-grown firms.
