Shatrughan Sinha had also backed Akhilesh Yadav after he took charge as Chief Minister in 2012
New Delhi:
In the middle of the Samajwadi Party's meltdown, the plain-speaking Shatrughan Sinha has scripted another awkward moment for his BJP with his tweets in support of Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
"My heart goes out to Akhilesh for the situation he is trapped in. Hope wish and pray that he comes out clean from this political quagmire," Mr Sinha, a BJP lawmaker from Bihar, tweeted.
The Samajwadi Party was plunged into deep crisis on Sunday after Akhilesh Yadav fired his uncle Shivpal Yadav, 61, as a minister in his government for the second time in a month. It was seen as a direct challenge to his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, who has been promoting Shivpal over him. Mulayam Singh, apparently returning the favour, sacked from the Samjawadi Party, his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav, a trusted adviser to Akhilesh.
Any family dispute is tough on the members involved. More so when the sordid drama is played out on a national stage under full media glare.
This is not the first time the filmstar-turned-politician has praised Akhilesh Yadav, 43. In 2012, after he took charge as Chief Minister, Mr Sinha called him a dynamic youth with an experienced father.
A fractured Samajwadi Party is seen as a boon for the BJP as it revs up its campaign for the Uttar Pradesh election early next year.

Really unfortunate to see him getting trapped by his own elders in a vicious game of power play within the family while many outsiders gloat

One fervently hoped that a youngster like Akhilesh Yadav would lead India's largest state on the path of development, peace and prosperity.
