As part of the government's public outreach programme, AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today visited Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district to inaugurate an exhibition on traditional wellbeing activity and products.
Mr Sonowal, after inaugurating the yoga demonstration and AYUSH exhibition, inspected the stalls set up by the AYUSH department. They included NCD screening clinic and AYUSH intervention in COVID-19, among others.
Later, at a seminar on AYUSH, the Union Minister complimented the participants and highlighted the significance of AYUSH medicare services. He said good public health through intervention of innovative and traditional practices is a priority, adding "happiness is the ultimate goal of every being" and AYUSH makes it more effective to achieve that.
DDC chairperson of Baramulla, Safeena Beigh, presented the significance of Baramulla district from a historical as well as a strategic perspective and added that special focus should be given towards such sectors having immense potential. She asked the government to set up a research centre for AYUSH in the district.
Mr Sonowal said institutions of AYUSH are being strengthened at grassroots level, adding special thrust will be given for setting up a research lab where scientific study on medicinal herbs can be carried out to explore their benefits.
