Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday met with Wipro Chairman Azim Premji and is understood to have discussed visa problems being faced by Indian professionals in the US.
Time and again, India has raised the issue of hike in visa fee by the US. It has also filed a case at World Trade Organization against the US decision to impose high fees on temporary working visas.
In a tweet, the commerce and industry ministry said Mr Premji and the minister discussed IT-related issues.
The Americas accounted for 53.5 per cent of the company's total IT services revenue during the first quarter of this fiscal. Wipro is India's third-largest software services firm.
Recently, at the India-US CEO Forum meeting in New Delhi, the Indian side flagged its concerns over the visa fee hike in the US.
The US assured India that it will look into the concerns. However, it maintained that the decision was not targetted against Indian professionals.
