The statement adds that Anand Raj Ambedkar was not present in Delhi on May 4.
New Delhi: The Republican Sena has denied reports of its president Anand Raj Ambedkar, grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar, joining the Congress last month.
A news agency had reported on May 4 that Anand Raj Ambedkar joined the Congress in the presence of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the national capital.
"The program on 4th May 2019 was held at DPCC Head Office, DDU Marg, New Delhi, only to support the Congress Party in forthcoming General Elections, 2019, by the Republican Sena, Delhi Pradesh," the Republican Sena said in a statement to NDTV today.
The statement adds that Anand Raj Ambedkar was not present in Delhi on May 4.
"The support was extended to Congress Party by President and General Secretary of Republican Sena, Delhi Pradesh. The misleading press release issued by the DPCC which has created all that mess," the Republican Sena statement added.
