Bad weather disrupts Amarnath yatra

Bad weather disrupts Amarnath yatra
Jammu: The Annual Amarnath yatra has run into rough weather. The yatra was suspended just a day after it was flagged off on Monday because fresh snow is burying the yatra track. The traditional 45 kilometers long yatra route from Pahalgam to the holy cave remains snow bound. The MeT Department has forecast more rain and snow.

"We have decided to wait for a couple of days and if the route is not opened then we may have no other option but to go back home," said a yatri.

Pilgrims cannot take the risk of proceeding to the holy cave till the route is fully cleared.

"When the route will be cleared, then only the government and the administration will give the go ahead to the yatris. Anybody taking risks and going ahead is not a sensible thing to do," said A Q Manhas, DIG, Jammu.

With the suspension of Amarnath yatra the backlog of pilgrims is only increasing with every passing day. They can only hope that weather Gods show some mercy and their long wait for the darshan also comes to an end.
