New Delhi:
The man whose killing sparked off violence in Bihar, the death of two people and sparked a
bandh call across the state today was found to be alive. At Delhi court. With a girl called Priti Chaudhary with whom he had reportedly eloped.
Meanwhile, angry opposition parties had called a day-long strike across the state today to protest Prashant Kumar Jha's death.
On Friday, the state's Madhubani district saw violent protests after locals claimed that the police was refusing to hand over an unclaimed, headless body which 17-year-old Prashant's family members said was his.
Prashant had been missing for some time. The angry crowd set on fire several government offices and five police station. To control the mob, police fired at it, ending up killing two protesters.
The Bihar government in its turn transferred the district magistrate and two top police officers of the district. It even asked for Central Bureau of Investigation probe to find how Prashant went missing and who was killed.
The opposition too jumped in, looking for an opportunity to embarrass the Nitish Kumar government, and called the state-wide strike. RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav was arrested in Patna with his party workers. Several long route trains as well as passenger trains were stopped by bandh supporters and the road traffic was badly hit across the state, stranding thousands. All private schools and colleges in Patna were closed to prevent any more violence.
And then, Prashant, along with the girl, was spotted today by a local resident at a tea shop in Mehrauli. They were later produced at a court in Delhi. They have now been detained by the Delhi's south district police for questioning.
