Passengers planning to visit the famous Lord Venkateswara hill shrine at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh this weekend have been stranded at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus since yesterday as 30 bus services were suspended due to the bandh call given by some outfits for a united state.
An all-party Joint Action Committee, spearheading the movement for a united Andhra Pradesh, has called for a bandh on Monday.
State Express Transport Corporations (SETC) officials said buses to Andhra Pradesh have been suspended since Sunday and would not be operate till tomorrow. Normal operations were expected to resume from Wednesday, they said.
However, train services to Andhra Pradesh have not been disrupted. "All trains to Andhra Pradesh are plying normally," a Southern Railway official said.
