Bangalore blast accused Madani arrested
Bangalore: Kerala PDP leader Abdul Nasar Madani has been arrested by the Bangalorepolice for his alleged role in the 2008 Bangalore blasts.

TheKarnataka High Court had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail plea, but the ruling Left Front in Kerala, allegedly wary of the politicalconsequence, was dragging its feet on the law and order support it hadto provide to facilitate the arrest.

The Left Front wasallegedly going soft on Madani with elections are round the corner asMadani commands support among Kerala's Muslims and is capable ofdividing the vote.

After his name was cleared in the Coimbatoreblast case in 2007, Madani had reformed his communal agenda focusing onDalit-Muslim unity and drawing legitimacy from the Left which isdesperate for his political support.

"They wanted to prop up aprominent Muslim leader as an accused in the case. So they trapped meafter a high-level conspiracy," Madani had earlier said in his defence.

He had however added that his supporters will not create any law and order problems if Karnataka Police arrested him.

Preventingthe anger of thousands of PDP workers from spilling over to the streetswill be a tough task for the Kerala government.
