Facing opposition's ire over controversial remarks made by some of its leaders, the BJP on Saturday made it clear that all party workers should realise their responsibility and not create unnecessary controversies at a time when the country is happy with the government's performance.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, when asked if the party's national executive discussed the issue during its two-day deliberations, said there is no need for any discussion on it and instead there was need for clarity.
"There is no need for a discussion on this, instead there is a need for clarity. The country is happy with the performance of the government. Any controversy over some statement is unnecessary. Every responsible party worker should have realisation of this responsibility," he said.
Mr Singh was forced to regret after party leadership, including Amit Shah reprimanded him saying the use of such language was absolutely unacceptable.
The Nigerian High Commisioner in India also strongly objected to his remarks.
While Ms Jyoti regretted her remarks, Sakshi Maharaj was issued a notice by the party seeking his explanation.
