The Beatles ashram in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh opened for public on December 8.
Rishikesh:
Popularly known as The Beatles Ashram, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's 'chaurasi kuttiya ashram' in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh opened for public on December 8.
The members of the Beatles, a popular music band of the 1960s, had visited the ashram in 1968. The ashram has now been turned into an eco-friendly tourist location.
"This is our state's treasure and its opening is an important landmark for us. We also plan to provide meditation classes and build a yoga learning centre," said Uttarakhand Forest Minister Dinesh Aggarwal.
The minister, who was also the chief guest for the inauguration of the ashram, added, "Our aim is to ensure that visitors don't simply come for the Beatles connection but to learn the magic of nature, meditation and yoga."
The ashram tickets for foreign tourists are priced at Rs 600, whereas for Indians are required to pay Rs 150.
