Students protested against the school principal accused of sexual harassment in West Bengal.
The headmaster of a government school in West Bengal was arrested today for allegedly sexually harassing several schoolgirls.
Angry boys and girls vandalised offices at Kasturba Gandhi High School at Chittaranjan near Asansol. Teachers also joined in.
For last few days, students have boycotted classes and were demonstrating against the principal.
Today, around 10:30 am, when they marched towards the principal's office, he locked himself in.
Police rushed to the spot to take control over the situation. Students surrounded the police jeep and tried to obstruct it while the headmaster was being taken away.
Teachers and students alleged the headmaster used to call girl students to his room and make inappropriate verbal proposals.
Some teachers claim he even used to threaten the girls with rustication if they complained to anyone.
