The woman sold the infant to a childless couple
Jalpaiguri:
Gouri Das, a 38-year-old woman from West Bengal's Jalpaiguri who had sold her infant son for Rs 13000, has now taken him back.
She had sold the infant to a childless couple on May 27 as she was too poor to take care of him.
After hearing about the case, the administration swung into action and found the baby on May 31, but Gouri had refused to take him back.
"I wouldn't be able to take care of him. How am I going to feed him," she had then told NDTV.
Her son Rohit, born on May 24, has been in the care of the Child Welfare Committee.
Gouri already has three daughters; her husband left the family a few months ago.
The only source of income for the family is the alms earned by Gouri's mother, who begs on the streets of Jalpaiguri.
She agreed to take Rohit back after the state administration and some concerned individuals offered to help her out.
