The Delhi Police have arrested a man from Bengaluru for suspected links with the terror group Al Qaeda.
The police said Maulana Anzar Shah, who teaches in a madrassa in Bengaluru, is suspected to have helped a Bangladesh-based terrorist.
He is also suspected to have been involved in Sunday's violence in West Bengal's Malda, where a lakh-strong mob of protesters went on the rampage setting fire to a police station and damaging vehicles.
Shah is suspected to have met members of the Al Qaeda's module for the Indian sub-continent, which the Delhi Police unearthed about a month ago, a police officer said.
Anzar Shah was arrested on Wednesday night and was brought to the national capital, where he was handed over to the special cell of the Delhi Police.
A court has remanded him in police custody till January 20 for interrogation.
