The accused woman is a physiotherapist from Assam, police said.
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru woman on Monday afternoon walked into a police station with a trolley suitcase with her mother's body stuffed into it. Police said the 39-year-old Sonali Sen, a physiotherapist from Assam, walked into the police station around 1 pm yesterday and confessed that she had killed her. She had carried the suitcase there in an autorickshaw.
A framed picture, of the murdered woman's husband, could also be seen inside the suitcase along with the body.
The incident is from Mico Layout police station, and the woman was arrested after surrendering. She lives with her husband and claimed she killed her mother, 71-year-old mother Biva Pal, by smothering her mother with a towel.
"The lady is from Assam. She has studied physiotherapy. She was working at a hospital. For the last few years, she was not working. She used to stay with her mother, mother-in-law, her son, and her husband. Her husband works in a private company. The incident was between her and her mother. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind it," Bengaluru's South East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police, CK Baba, said, and also clarified that the victim was not on sleeping pills, as earlier reported, but blood pressure medicines.
No history of mental illness has been reported, but the police say Sonali Sen may have been under severe stress as she was the care-taker for her autistic child, mother, and mother-in-law, in an apartment at Bilekahalli, a suburb in Bengaluru South.
They used to have regular altercations, because of which the woman committed the horrific crime, she has confessed, according to the police.
