Bhandara : A forensic expert looking into the deaths of three minor sisters from Bhandara in Maharashtra has reportedly concluded that the girls died of drowning in a well and were not raped, as stated in their post-mortem report.
The forensic expert has said the girls bore no external injuries and their clothes and jewelry were intact. He has also said there were no signs of poisoning or the girls being strangled. His report negates the post-mortem findings which said the girls were sexually abused, killed and then thrown into a well.
The minors - aged 11, nine, and six - went missing after school on February 14. Their bodies were spotted by a passerby two days later. The day her daughters were found dead, their mother told NDTV, "I want the culprits to be caught and hanged in public."
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the case. But based on the post-mortem report, a case of rape and murder was registered against unknown persons. Sources say rape charges will now be dropped from the complaint.
While the forensic experts has concluded that the girls died of drowning, it is yet to be confirmed whether they drowned accidentally, were pushed into the well or committed suicide.
