Students of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal have demanded an "impartial probe" into the alleged suicide by a 20-year-old woman student of the AIIMS in Jodhpur.
They held a candle march in Bhopal last evening and alleged that the student, Rashmi Yadav, ended her life after harassment by a teacher.
Rashmi Yadav, a native of Alwar district in Rajasthan, had taken admission in AIIMS, Jodhpur, on July 23. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room on the night of July 26.
"We demand an impartial probe into the suicide of the student, who took the extreme step allegedly due to harassment at the hands of a teacher," Sant Guru Prasad, former president of AIIMS Bhopal student's union, told reporters in Bhopal.
This is the third such incident at AIIMS, Jodhpur, in the last three years, claimed Mr Prasad, who led the candle march.
The students have also written a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda and director of AIIMS, Jodhpur, on the issue.
The police in Jodhpur had said after the incident that "in a suicide note, Rashmi Yadav advised a teacher to behave properly with students".
