New Delhi:
Actor Junior NTR will host the Telugu version of reality show Bigg Boss, which is an adaptation of UK's Big Brother. Junior NTR told news agency IANS that he agreed to host the show because he finds the challenge of hosting a popular series 'intriguing.' He said: "Television is one of the biggest means for entertainment. When I was approached to host Bigg Boss, the biggest ever show on Telugu Television, I was intrigued by the challenge. I believe that the show will be a game changer." Bigg Boss (Telugu) will also be Junior NTR's first ever television show.
"With Junior NTR, one of the most popular and revered Telugu stars as the host, we look forward to engage a diverse spectrum of viewers. On the show, our endeavour will be to continuously innovate keeping in mind the sensibilities of this market. This will be an experience unlike any seen on Telugu TV before," said Alok Jain, the Business Head of Star Maa, which will air Bigg Boss Telugu.
In India, Big Brother has been adapted in Hindi and recently also in Tamil. The Hindi version is currently being hosted by Salman Khan. After competing 10 successful seasons, the show-makers have now started the selection process for the 11th season. In Bigg Boss 10 celebrities competed against non-celebrities for the top prize. Noida-based Manveer Gurjar (from team non-celebs) won the winner's trophy. Bigg Boss 11 will follow a similar format for the contestants.
Meanwhile, the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil, which will be hosted by superstar Kamal Haasan, will go on air from June 25.
