In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy was chopped to death by a group of boys, including the brothers of a girl, who mistook a chit he threw in the examination hall for love letter. The incident took place in Bhojpur last week. The police recovered his body parts strewn next to a railway track near Mahatbania Halt station on Monday. They have arrested the girl's brother and his friends and launched an investigation. The police are also taking help of state forensic science laboratory (FSL).
According to the police, the boy was decapitated, his arm and leg were chopped off as well. The discovery shocked the boy's family and his neighbours in the village.
Last week, the Class 5 student took his sister - who studies in Class 6 - to the middle school for her half-yearly exam. To help his sister during the exam, the boy threw a chit in the examination hall, said the police. By mistake, the piece of paper hit another girl who thought it's a love letter and informed her brothers after school. The brothers and their friends thrashed the boy, the cops added.
When the boy's sister reached home, she told her family about the incident. The boy's father and other family members then started searching for him and even informed the police.
On Monday, a villager spotted a hand near a local temple and informed the police. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Himanshu said the police immediately rushed to the spot and deployed the canine unit to find the missing body. They said when it was found, the family members were called for identification. They recognised the clothes after which the police confirmed it is the body of the missing boy.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vinod Kumar Singh and other officials met the family of the boy to take some details. They said the 12-year-old was a very intelligent boy.
The police said that all the attackers were minors and they sent them to juvenile home.
