Patna, Bihar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reviewed the earthquake relief operations in border areas of the state even as schools and colleges reopened after two days due to the tremors.

Mr Kumar inspected the relief centre at Bettiah this morning and instructed officials to maintain hygiene while preparing food packets. He said that approximately 5000 food packets, milk, and water are being sent to Nepal for the earthquake victims daily through border points in Raxual, Bargania in Sitamarhi and Bettiah.

He also inspected the items being placed in the relief packet.

From Bettiah, the chief minister went to Sitamarhi to review relief operation in the district.

He had supervised relief work at Raxual on Tuesday, which is witnessing the maximum flow of people coming from Nepal.

Mr Kumar told reporters at Sitamarhi that the state government was sensitive towards victims of earthquake in various parts of the state as well Nepal which is a "friendly country."

The Chief Minister also held a meeting with officials at the Sitamarhi air strip and gave necessary instructions regarding relief for victims of the earthquake and the tropical storm earlier.

The quake that jolted parts of Bihar left 58 dead and 180 injured, the state's Disaster Management special cell said.

Two Central ministers -- Ananth Kumar and Radhamohan Singh -- arrived in Bihar to oversee relief operations for earthquake victims.

The two ministers, who have come to Bihar on instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, went straight to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to meet those injured in the April 25 earthquake.

Senior BJP leaders Sushil Kumar Modi and Nand Kishore Yadav accompanied them.

The Union ministers went around wards in PMCH and enquired about the medical facilities provided to the injured.

The two ministers along with Sushil Modi and Nand Kishore Yadav then left for Raxual by helicopter to oversee relief work in East Champaran district.

Sushil Modi told reporters that the ministers would later meet the chief minister.
