Patna: Bihar government today extended a helping hand to women falling victim of acid attack by making a provision for medical assistance up to Rs 1 lakh from the Chief Minister's fund.
This was decided at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.
The cabinet also enhanced the amount for medical purposes from the Chief Minister's medical aid fund for BPL and other needy persons.
Accordingly, the amount for total hip replacement assistance from the CM relief fund has been increased to Rs 60,000 from existing Rs 20,000, Principal Secretary, Cabinet Coordination Committee Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters here.
The money for knee replacement has been raised to Rs 50,000 from Rs 20,000 at present.
The cabinet decided to accord "Pitripaksh fair" and "Sonepur cattle fair" the status of state fair.
