Pakistani flags were waved at the rally of separatist Masarat Alam in Srinagar on Wednesday
Patna:
Members of Bihar legislative council today raised their voices in protest against Kashmiri separatist leader Masarat Alam's provocative pro-Pakistan slogans forcing the House to be adjourned.
As soon as the post-recess session of the Council began, members belonging to ruling JD(U) and allied parties stood up and raised slogans denouncing Alam's slogans and held Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government responsible for his release.
"This is a question of national security. BJP and Modi should answer how Alam was released and not re-arrested. This whole situation that has emerged in Kashmir is due to their policies," MLC Mahachandra Prasad Singh said while raising slogans against the Centre.
MLC Ranveer Nandan said BJP should state who would pay forthe loss of lives in Kashmir as Alam, released by the newly formed Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Government in March, was whipping up anti-national passions among people.
Another legislator Rudal Rai demanded the Centre to tell why Alam has not been brought to justice despite being responsible for the death of over 120 people.
The JD(U) members also raised the issue of Land Acquisition Bill and Centre's policies and alleged that they were "anti-people" and "anti-farmers". They were joined by members of allies in RJD and Congress, who added that the BJP government at the Centre did not keep its promises made to the people during the Lok Sabha poll campaign last year.
The Council Deputy Chairman Saleem Perwez requested the protesting legislators to allow the business of the House, but nobody responded.
BJP legislators tried to counter JD(U) members by shouting slogans against the state government and demanded strict action on electricity department officials involved in harassing residents of Nepura village in Nalanda district.
BJP leaders also alleged that the Nitish Kumar government did not buy paddy from farmers due to which they were forced to burn their produce and were trying to commit suicide.
As the din got louder, Mr Perwez adjourned the House for the day.
