Banka:
In a major haul ahead of the Lok Sabha by-poll in Banka constituency, the Bihar Police today recovered a dozen detonators, ammonium nitrate and firearms here.
Banka parliamentary seat goes to polls on November 1 along with the Assembly constituencies that form part of the parliamentary constituency.
Superintendent of Police Shyam Kumar said 12 detonators, 10 kg ammonium nitrate besides a rifle and a pistol were recovered from a house at Bagro village by a police party which included CRPF personnel.
Ten live cartridges were also found during the raids.
None was, however, found inside the house, the SP said.
The Lok Sabha by-election has been necessitated due to the death of sitting Independent member and former union minister Digvijay Singh on June 24.
Congress has declared support to independent candidate Putul Singh, widow of Digvijay Singh. NDA too is supporting her, while the RJD-LJP combine has fielded former union minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav. Digvijay Singh had won as an independent after being denied ticket by JD(U).
