Bihar transporters to join strike called by AIMTC from April 1
Patna: The transporters from Bihar will take part in the indefinite strike called by the apex transports' body - All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) - from April 1 next to protest against hike in third party insurance premium and related demands, the Bihar Motor Transports Federation (BMTF) President Uday Singh said on Tuesday.

About 90,000 trucks and 25,000 passengers buses will stay of the road as our transporters will join the AIMTC's call for indefinite strike from April 1 next to protest hike in the third party insurance premium by the Centre and also to press for other demands like time-bound disposal of insurance claims, fixation of jurisdiction and amount of insurance claims, he said in a statement.

A meeting of the transporters under the banner of the BMTF will be held in the state capital on March 29 to discuss the details about the proposed strike by the transporters, Mr Singh said.

The central government has hiked the third party insurance premium and taken other measures. The transporters have decided to call for a nationwide strike from April 1 to press for their various demands.
