Patna: Two bomb disposal squad personnel were killed and four others injured when a bomb planted by Maoists at Bankebazar in Gaya district went off and a goods train derailed after a blast in Muzaffarpur district during the 24-hour 'Bharat bandh' called on Monday by the Maoists.

The two personnel, Vijay Kumar and Jai Chand, of the Bihar Military Police were killed while defusing the powerful bomb planted at the Banke Bazar block office, Director General of Police Neelmani said.

Two Special Armed Police personnel and two mediapersons were also injured. They were admitted to hospital, he said.

In Muzaffarpur district, ten wagons of a goods train derailed after Maoists blew up railway track with dynamite near Kurhani railway station in Hajipur-Muzaffarpur section of East-Central Railway, Neelmani said.

The wagons derailed after passing over the damaged tracks disrupting services since 3:00 am. Trains were diverted from Hajipur to Muzaffarpur via the Sahpur-Patori station, he said.

Rail traffic was restored after the bomb disposal squad checked the tracks, he said.

In Gaya district, four trucks were burnt by a group of 100 ultras late on Sunday night in the Amas police station area, the DGP said.

In another incident in the same district, heavily armed ultras exchanged fire with security personnel at Maigra high school in the jurisdiction of the Dumaria police station area. There was no casualty, official sources said.

The sources said Maoists blasted two mobile towers at Madanpur and Rafiganj in Aurangabad district late last night.

The Maoists gave the bandh call against US President Barack Obama's India visit.
