Guwahati:
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today claimed that the BJP-Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) alliance is a "marriage of convenience" just to grab power in the state.
The chief minister said in a statement that the BJP-AGP leaders completely ignored the wishes of the rank and file of party workers while forging the alliance and the disillusionment is there for everyone to see.
"Both the BJP-AGP have ganged up in a haste to capture power by any means throwing all their principles and ideologies to the wind," he said.
He also claimed that the growing differences between the leaders of AGP and BJP after the alliance had come to the fore.
Attributing the BJP-AGP alliance as an "alliance of leaders and not of workers", Mr Gogoi said the Congress on the other hand has all along been giving due recognition and respect to the grassroot workers by giving them an audience to express their views.
