New Delhi:
Bharatiya Janata party president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday met LK Advani at the latter's residence in Delhi to discuss the embarrassing public battle between party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Narendra Modi.
Swaraj said recently that the Gujarat chief minister's magic does not work everywhere. Her comments were made in the context of Modi not being among the BJP leaders who campaigned in Bihar for the state's elections.
In Patna today, Swaraj said she had been misquoted and that "somebody is planting these (things). She said "Narendra bhai and I have no differences" and added that one of Modi's best qualities is that he is not moved by media reports.
The chief minister's recent actions suggest otherwise. Days after Swaraj's remarks against him -seeing as an articulation of their infamous rivalry -newspapers on Wednesday carried large ads declaring that Modi is a huge crowd-puller for the BJP.
A BJP leader from Karnataka, Lehar Singh, said he had placed the ads. The chief minister is believed to have blessed this initiative.
Swaraj also denied reports that Gadkari has reprimanded her and told her to avoid making hurtful remarks. "I haven't had any conversation with Gadkari in the last few days, so I don't know where this is coming from," she said.
Swaraj and Modi are both projected by their supporters as future prime ministerial candidates for the BJP.
