Jaipur:
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has alleged that the conspiracy to revive the quota stir in the state was hatched during the marriage of BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's son in Nagpur recently.
Hitting out at the BJP for the ongoing Gujjar agitation, Gehlot said, "My associates told me that people who had attended a wedding party thrown by Nitin Gadkari planned the entire crisis. The entire political conspiracy of instigating violence over reservations in Rajasthan had been made during the wedding. I have been informed that some people had gathered at the wedding and planned the entire row. I will look into the matter and gather information to ascertain the real truth."
On Monday, the Chief Minister made a fresh appeal to Gujjars to call off their agitation. He said the community should understand the government's limitations over the reservation issue as the matter is sub-judice.
"What is in our hands will be done for sure, but since the matter is sub-judice, there are some limitations too and they (Gujjars) must understand it," Gehlot told reporters.
The stand-off between Gujjars and the Rajasthan government entered the tenth day today causing hardships to people and huge loss to industries, railways and roadways.
Gujjar leaders, who are demanding among other things five per cent quota in government jobs and educational institutions, have now threatened to bring their protests to Delhi. They have planned a 'mahapanchayat' in Delhi where further course of action will be decided. Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla had announced a deadline of seven days for the administration to come up with a "permanent solution."
The ongoing agitation has badly affected rail traffic and caused a huge loss to tourism and other sectors. The stir has also badly hit transport industry and supply of goods in the state with several thousand trucks stranded at various places. The Railways have so far refunded over Rs 1.5 crore following cancellation of 45,000 tickets in the wake of the agitation. (With PTI Inputs)
