Pune: While the BJP leaders have been criticising the Prime Minister being an underachiever especially after being labelled as that, by Time magazine, Manmohan Singh has found support from unlikely ground. Madhya Pradesh's BJP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan who was in Pune meeting potential investors defended the Prime Minister saying 'we don't need a foreign certificate of our performance.'
He went to say that he is the Prime Minister of the country and has to be respected by everyone even though the present scenario of the country was a cause of concern.
Mr Chauhan's remarks came in response to the TIME magazine's Asia edition featuring 79-year-old Mr Singh on its cover, whose title, with his portrait in the background, reads 'The Underachiever - India needs a reboot'.
Mr Chauhan's party -the BJP though had back then said that the magazine had only "stated the obvious" and that the PM has dented India's international image.
This was predictably dismissed by the Congress.
