Patna, Bihar:
The Opposition BJP in Bihar today raked up the issue of inauguration of facilities at a government hospital in Patna by former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, holding that it 'demeaned' the office of the chief minister.
In a letter to Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that it 'demoralised democratic values'.
Mr Modi referred to the absence of the name and photograph of Mr Manjhi in the government advertisements published in newspapers about the event, which carried Nitish Kumar's photograph and name instead.
"Inauguration of any government project by a former chief minister is not a healthy tradition," he said.
"If adding facilities in the hospital was a dream of Nitish Kumar, former health ministers from BJP like Chandramohan Rai, Nand Kishore Yadav and Ashwani Choubey were part of the dream ... why were these leaders left out of the function?" he questioned.
Nitish Kumar had inaugurated the facilities at Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital in Rajwanshi Nagar in Patna last Wednesday.
