BJP demands Chidambaram, Maran's resignation

BJP demands Chidambaram, Maran's resignation
New Delhi: Just a couple of hours after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa accused Union Home Minister P Chidambaram of fraudulently getting elected to the Lok Sabha, the BJP too called for his resignation.

Addressing a press conference today, BJP Spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the recorded conversations of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia with former Telecom Minister A Raja establish that even Chidambaram received money in the 2G case.

Mr Javadekar also slammed Union Minister for Textiles Dayanidhi Maran and called for his resignation as well. "If truly Congress wanted to do something against corruption, why is Maran still in power? Want to ask the Prime Minister that what else evidence do they require?" said Mr Javadekar.

The CBI is investigating complaints that during his tenure as Telecom Minister from 2004 to 2007, Mr Maran forced the former owner of Aircel to sell his company to a Malaysia-based firm, known for its proximity to Mr Maran's family.
