BJP denies Advani one last yatra
New Delhi: His place at the Centre of the BJP has virtually ripped apart the party. And now, in December, LK Advani may have to retire without the final rath yatra he's been planning since June.

When the party suffered its colossal defeat in the general elections, Advani announced a nationwide yatra or journey. Since then, the bitter opposition to him as the leader of the BJP has exploded.

And now that chorus against him says the yatra would project him as the face of the party.

The BJP's parent body, the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh or RSS also wants him to focus on meeting grassroots workers and ushering in Generation Next. So, the yatra will be replaced with chats with party workers.

The image of him waving to millions in his fancy rath has often defined LK Advani. That his yatra now stands cancelled suggests that for this giant figure, it really perhaps is the end of the road in politics.
