Shimla:
Opposition BJP disrupted Himachal Pradesh Assembly's proceedings for the third day today, demanding discussion on fresh developments in the ED case against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
As soon the House assembled, BJP members demanded immediate discussion on the matter, with party legislator Rikhi Ram Kaundal inquiring about the fate of his adjournment notice to discuss fresh developments in the case against Mr Singh.
Speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail, however, rejected their demand, saying no discussion can be allowed on it. Following this the BJP members created an uproar, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the Assembly for 15 minutes.
When the House reassembled, the BJP legislators again raised the demand but the Speaker did not relent and proceeded with Question Hour following which slogan-shouting opposition members trooped into the Well of the Assembly.
Yesterday also, the Speaker had outright rejected the demand, saying he cannot allow the adjournment motion as the matter was sub-judice and investigation is underway.
The BJP legislators, after raising slogans during Question Hour returned to their seats and participated in the discussion on cut motions on budgetary proposals of various departments.
