BJP hits back at PM over Kandahar charges

Ghaziabad:

A day after the Prime Minister attacked the BJP accusing it of negotiating with terrorists in the Kandahar hijack, the BJP has hit back.

Party president Rajnath Singh has claimed that Manmohan Singh was consulted on the decision and that the Congress is now misleading the people.

"The Congress should not mislead the people of this country. When Vajpayee was the PM, Manmohan Singh was the Opposition leader in Rajya Sabha. He was taken into confidence. It was not just the decision of the BJP or the NDA," Rajnath said in Ghaziabad.

The BJP chief's remarks have come in the wake of allegation put up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accusing the BJP of sending its foreign minister to Kandahar while the Congress sent commandos to Mumbai to tackle terrorists.

The PM had also accused the BJP of continuously stalling Parliament while Advani now wanted a debate.
