Morena: A lawmaker of the BJP from Madhya Pradesh's Morena allegedly slapped an attendant at the toll booth, and then went ahead and filed a police complaint.
In his complaint, MLA Rustam Singh, a policeman-turned-politician, has accused the toll attendants of "illegally seeking" more than the toll fee.
Mr Singh, along with his son Rakesh and some other associates, reached the toll plaza at Chonda near Morena on Wednesday night at around 9 pm, shows CCTV footage from the site.
The SUV they were traveling in allegedly brushed past one of the attendants, after which the car stopped and Rakesh stepped out, shows the footage.
Rakesh allegedly tried to snatch the rifle from the security guard posted at the plaza. His associates also joined the scuffle but the attendants did not react, shows the footage.
At this point, the footage shows Mr Singh coming out of his car and slapping one of the attendants. The next day, Ram Khiladi Singh, reportedly an associate of Mr Singh, filed a complaint against the toll plaza manager and five others, accusing them of collecting more than the toll amount.
While the toll officials say they were not illegally collecting toll, they refused to reveal what had led to the argument and then the scuffle.
They police is not willing to hear their side of the story, they claim.
However, one of the poll attendants informed NDTV that Mr Singh's wife, who had visited the toll booth a dew days ago, had allegedly protested when she was asked to pay the toll amount. The scuffle yesterday could be a fall-out of that incident, he said.
