Patna:

A BJP lawmaker in Bihar, Tunnaji Pandey, was arrested this morning for misbehaving with a woman on a train last night.

According to the woman's complaint, Mr Pandey misbehaved and abused her on board Poorvanchal Express near Sarai railway station, police said.

Mr Pandey, a member of Bihar Legislative Council from Siwan, was arrested on Sunday morning. BJP lawmaker has been sent to a judicial custody till August 6.

Denying charges, Mr Pandey said, "I was just taking out my phone charger, didn't even know whether it was a girl or a boy who was sleeping."

The party has suspended Mr Pandey after the complaint, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said in a tweet.

The lawmaker boarded the train from Durgapur and had to get down at Hajipur, while the woman was going to Gorakhpur.
