BJP lawmaker Kirit Somaiya's son suffered injuries on his hand after he accidentally hit a glass table-top at his home in suburban Mulund allegedly under the influence of alcohol, police said today.
The incident took place on late Monday afternoon at Somaiyas' residence in Neelam Nagar building in Mulund East, after which, Neil (26), was taken to a nearby private hospital.
"Neil Somaiya suffered a serious hand injury after he accidentally hit a glass table-top at his home. He was in an inebriated condition when the incident took place. His wrist suffered an injury and started bleeding," a senior police officer said.
Mr Somaiya was discharged from the hospital yesterday, police said.
Navghar police has recorded Neil's statement in which he told them that it was not a suicide attempt, but just an accident.

According to sources, Mr Somaiya helps his father in political activities and is planning to contest next year's Mumbai civic elections.
